What is a constant pressure system and what does it do?
If you have a modern well water system, chances are you also have a constant pressure system. However, if your aging well system doesn’t have one, you’re going to want one after you read this post.
Let’s dive in!
What Is a Constant Pressure System?
A constant pressure system is an additional feature of your well water system. It uses a sensor to detect water pressure from your pump system. This sensor then sends a signal to a controller module, which is responsible for regulating your pump’s water pressure and keeping it consistent. This means you’ll always have steady, even water pressure for showers, washing dishes, and more.
How Does a Constant Pressure System Work?
Without a constant pressure system, your pump will turn on and off when your pressure tank reads that your pressure is in a certain psi range (typically 40-60 psi). This can sometimes lead to inconsistent, unpredictable pressure situations.
On the other hand, a constant pressure system will keep pace with the demand that your system requires. It does this by automatically increasing the speed of your pump when you need more water and decreasing the speed when your demand lessens.
What Are the Benefits?
Using a constant pressure system can help save water and keep you comfortable when it comes to showers and other times when you need to use water over a prolonged period of time, such as washing dishes. A constant pressure system can help improve your quality of life exponentially.
